From Crisis to Creativity: Business Planning for Everyone (Using Permaculture!)

What if your organization, business or company were organized in accordance with permaculture ethics and principles?

Are you part of an organization or business that has challenges it would like to solve? Feel stuck with conventional business planning tools?  In transition with your own business as a self-employed person?  Ready to jump-start your organization or business for the new year with a solid set of goals and action steps inspired by the wisdom of permaculture design?

Join us in Portland, Maine for a one-day intensive permaculture ethics and principles program. Attendees will be provided the tools to help visualize the direction and action steps they want to manifest for their organizations and businesses. 

This event is suitable for self-employed people, owners or workers in a business (of any type), members/directors/staff/advisers of non-profit organizations or community groups, and those considering a new venture or a "re-start" of an existing venture.

Space is limited to 20 participants to ensure a quality experience.  Early registration price ($49 for whole day) available to those who register with payment by January 20th.  After that the price is $65.  

Coffee/tea/snacks and handouts provided.

The permaculture ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share/Future Care will at the heart of the session.  The permaculture principles will inform the modules we cover during the day.

Rachel Lyn Rumson will be the primary facilitator of this session. Rachel Lyn has been called an animator due to the “life” that she brings to groups, actively engaging them in the work. Her masters thesis on regenerative systems combined with her study of permaculture design form a keystone of her practice. As systems thinker, Rachel Lyn embraces the complexity of each project and works to maximize the goals of her clients in business and in activism. She values learning processes and dialogue as vital components of the work and seeks to develop communities that intentionally create, learn and change together. Rachel Lyn is a process consultant with The Resilience Hub, consulting on multi-stakeholder designs, and facilitating permaculture education. Rachel Lyn sits on the board of the Portland Tool Library and the Machigonne Community Land Trust and is active member of local groups including Transition Portland, Hour Exchange Portland and the Portland Food Coop.     Rachel presented us with many wonderful tools and many aspects of consideration. I came to this presentation with no sense of how to begin a business and quite a resistance to business language. However, now I have a clearer picture of what assets, skills I already have and where there are gaps to be filled in. The most important piece I walk away with is how I perceive a challenge and how can I make it an asset. Many thanks to Rachel and Lisa.
