Mt. Joy Orchard is in need of a little attention, most things are growing pretty well, but some weeds are getting a bit out of hand!
For our August workparty we will be hand weeding, deadheading, spot sheet mulching and watering anything that looks like it needs it.
Join us at 5:30 pm (past the heat of the day) for a low key, social work party, stay as long or as short as you want and probably take home something interesting to eat. A tour of suitable things to harvest offered at some point in the work party. Bring water, work gloves and a trowel/weeder/hori hori if one is handy.
Mt. Joy Orchard is a free to pick public orchard providing a creative social space while demonstrating the use of agricultural practices that promote pollinator habitat, biodiversity and the preservation of Maine's agricultural heritage.
If you have any questions or would like to offer a workshop, or make a donation of materials or funds please be in touch.
