One of our most important tasks at Mt. Joy Orchard is keeping a heavy organic mulch on the ground, this keeps the weeds down, conserves water, protects and builds soil. Every fall the deciduous trees in Portland drop many tons of leaves, which make excellent orchard mulch. This year we hope make the best possible use of that amazing gift by spending a few hours spreading leaf mulch on the orchard with our friends (that's you). Come for the whole event, or just a hour. Potluck lunch at 12:30, please bring a dish to share as well as your own cup/plate/spork etc. Leaves are light and easy to work with, there are also other tasks that need doing, so there is work for people of all ages and abilities.
