How did you find this particular group? (word of mouth? internet? etc.)

I spent the day reading indoor and outdoor gardening blogs on the UMaine website as well as the Johnny Seeds website gathering tips for maximizing my harvest. I came across this group in my reading and would like to learn much more.

What interests you about this particular group?

Meetings are available in my home town which allows me to have easy access to information. I enjoy the barter, free trade aspect ideas. Especially when it comes to trading seedlings.

Are you living/gardening/growing predominantly in an urban, suburban or rural setting?

Suburban, starting with raised beds for vegetables and in the process of planting fruit trees and hopefully installing bee hives by next year.

I am a Portland resident and a student studying Horticulture at SMCC. I chose to pursue this education after realizing its value for my community. I am trying to learn as much as I can to sustain my community.
