Passamaquoddy Medicine Plants
Passamaquoddy healer Fredda Paul and his wife Leslie Wood have embarked on a fascinating project to preserve—through words, pictures, and interviews with other Native Americans—the fast-disappearing knowledge of healing with native plants. Learn from them as they describe their work in two diverse programs. In the afternoon session, the group will take a walk and focus on identifying local native plants that can be harvested in summer and early fall and used to make herbal medicines. The evening session will include a discussion about Passamaquoddy medicinal plants and demonstrations on how to prepare them. Some traditional medicines will be available for purchase.
