OK - further to last night, let's get a discussion going on who might be in need of a helping hand to turn some lawn or old garden into a sheet-mulched oasis?

To volunteer for a sheet mulching party, you will want to get at least the following materials together in advance:

  • Some seaweed, ideally
  • Some rotted manure like cow or horse
  • Other "green" and "brown" matter of your choice (leaves, grass clippings, etc.)
  • Compost if you really want to build it up high!
  • Lots of newspaper and some plastic bins to soak it in on sheet mulching day
  • Bales of straw or mulch hay

Also see Elaine's great post about the sheet mulching method from Gaia's Garden - there are lots of materials that can be used in this project.

**So, post here if you are interested and we'll try to organize one or two events for weekend mornings between now and Thanksgiving.**

Yes, we're interested in both giving and getting help with the sheet mulching!
