Nepal has been considered by many travelers “a paradise on earth, or at least Shangri La. Wedged between the mountain wall of the Himalaya and the steamy jungles of the Indian Plains this is a land of yaks and yetis, monasteries and mantras, snow peaks and sherpas, temples and tigers, magic and mystery.”
Pat Johnson will show pictures and tell stories of this spectacular place that she and four other MOACers(Vicki, Ellen, Brian and Andi) ventured to in October 2013. It was a thrilling adventure(and a bit of misadventure) to hike the high Himalaya including Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar(18,294 ft),as well as explore the unique culture of the Nepalese in Kathmandu.
Pat Johnson has been an active MOAC member since 2002, leading trips, serving on the board and is a past President. She is an avid hiker, xc skier, bicyclist, kayaker and traveler. This was her third trip to Asia.
