It's back to crafting in August with a meetup about materials - practice Tapigami, a method of creating beautiful structures out of ... tape.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7212/7237582952_36a4dcc05b_d.jpg Tapigami is a beautiful art form created by California artist Danny Scheible. If you went to Maker Faire this year, you might have seen his elegant, life-size city made from masking tape by dozens of people.
In this meetup, we'll learn the basic technique of rolling straws, and making cones, boxes, and cylinders.
After that - you can use your imagination: make a village, a critter, or a scene from your summer vacation.
You can order a book or learn more at the Tapigami website (http://tapigami.com/).
If you have some interesting tape you'd like to contribute, bring some. We'll provide masking tape and a variety of other samples to try.
Each person will receive a roll of masking tape to practice with.
