Coffee roasting and drinking has a rich tradition going back to the 15th Century. We are lucky to have such a plethora of amazing coffee roasters here in the Bay Area - but it's not only less expensive, but fun, to roast your own beans. Using inexpensive equipment, we can even roast coffee in an office setting.
We'll be working with Oakland-based Sweet Maria's, a provider of coffee beans and roasting equipment for the home roaster. They have excellent instructions: http://www.sweetmarias.com/instructions.php, as well as being a provider of the inexpensive West Bend Popper (http://www.sweetmarias.com/sweetmarias/coffee-roasters/air-roasters/west-bend-air-crazy.html) that works great for small batches.
We are also glad to announce that Byron from Sweet Marias will be joining us this week - so you can get your answers from the most trusted source.
Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Sweet Marias (http://www.sweetmarias.com/), who is providing the beans, we can keep the cost of this workshop low, so this is a great opportunity for you to pay your 2104 dues.
We are limiting attendance to 20 people, so that we have enough time for everyone to roast and take home some coffee. Please do not RSVP if you can't make it.
