Explore Earth Orbit with SpaceVR

Viewing the Earth from space leads to a unique experience that astronauts refer to as the Overview Effect – national boundaries disappear, conflicts seem unimportant and humans are united in a desire to protect this "pale blue dot" called home.

Only 536 people have ever felt this effect.

But now you can #BeAnAstronaut and experience space fist-hand through mobile, desktop, and virtual reality devices.

Blaze Sanders, CTO of SpaceVR, joins Make:SF in june to share the amazing feeling of flying in space. He will tell us more about SpaceVR, the world's first Virtual Reality (VR) satellite, and their journey to send a satellite into orbit and record a 360-degree view.

Blaze will bring a selection of viewing devices and content from a near-orbit balloon flight.

Bring your own VR headgear (Google Cardboard is welcome!) to try out the content on your own equipment.

About Blaze:

Blaze Sanders is currently the CTO of SpaceVR, where he works on camera electronics, satellite communications, and electromechanical CAD modeling. He was previously the Sr. Electromechanical Engineer at Meta Company, where he worked on Augmented Reality glasses that turn you into Ironman, the CTO of Solar System Express (Sol-X) building Ironmans rocket boots and electronics, and was a NASA civil servant at Marshall Space Flight Center and the Technical Program Manager of the JURBAN Google Lunar X PRIZE team working on a robotic Lunar Wormbot.

About SpaceVR:

SpaceVR aims to bring this experience to everyone through immersive virtual reality. SpaceVR is the world’s 1st Virtual Reality (VR) satellite, delivering 360-degree Cinematic, Live, Virtual Space Tourism. Through the use of 360-degree cameras, SpaceVR technology captures footage from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and sends it back to Earth so consumers can experience space travel.

Amazing. Felt I was in space.
Much more real than I expected.

If you could download the iPhone and Andriod "VRideo" app on your smartphone before the event that would help. See www.vrideo.com/apps
