Kids are learning to code from as young as 3 these days! But it's never too late for us grown ups to start.
Happily, coding doesn't have to be complicated and can actually be super creative and fun!
Come along to this meetup to learn:
- the basic concepts of coding
- how coding runs our world
- hands-on coding with the ScratchJr app
- computational thinking games
- ideas for coding with children
Suitable for beginners - parents and non-parents alike!
Wine, soft drinks and nibbles included
London EdTech startup mama.codes (http://mama.codes/) offers a fresh approach by teaching coding as a language, using repeated sequences of commands to animate jokes, stories and pretty much everything else. Our materials are now used in schools and nurseries around the world and by families looking for more positive screen time.
Lately we've had a lot of requests from non-parents too, to give them a fun and relaxed introduction to coding and they've been loving it!
We do our coding in the free tablet-based ScratchJr app (for iPad and recent Android tablets) so it's helpful but not essential if you can bring a tablet with you.
We also run kids' code clubs and holiday workshops - see www.mama.codes/events for more detail
We look forward to coding with you!
