GRIMMFEST, Manchester's international festival of horror and fantasy films starts this evening and runs through to Sunday.

Tonight we screen the 40th Anniversary of THE WICKERMAN with the director doing a Q+A, we premiere the latest in the CHILDS PLAY franchise, CURSE OF CHUCKY and more.

From Thur through Sun we premiere over 30 odd horror and sci-fi movies, its the biggest genre film fest outside London and it really is not to be missed. The Full line up is here.

If you love brand new and classic horror, cult, extreme fantasy and Sci-fi movies then GRIMMFEST is for you. We pride ourselves on bringing you the very best in new genre film from around the world.

Movie premieres, special film maker and celebrity guests and a handful of genre classics on display and we’ve partnered with the BFI to present some of our special screenings as part of their country wide Gothic season.

Now in its fifth year, Grimmfest has quickly become the premiere UK festival of genre film outside of London, and this year is our biggest yet!

Festival Highlights Include:

A special preview night at the spectacular 1200-seater Art Deco Super Cinema, Stockport Plaza ( This features a screening of the fully-restored 40th Anniversary re-release of cult classic THE WICKER MAN, FINAL CUT ( plus Q&A with the film’s director Robin Hardy, followed by a special preview of the CHILDS PLAY reboot CURSE OF CHUCKY ( There’s also the world premiere of the short film RADIO SILENCE ( by Matt Johns. A make-up workshop and Q&A with SFX maestro Shaune Harrison (, whose work was most recently showcased in WORLD WAR Z. A HELLRAISER ( screening with original cast in attendance. European premieres of FOUND ( (chilling coming of age story), ON AIR ( (brilliantly tense German serial killer thriller) and THE BUTTERFLY ROOM ( (the return of iconic genre legend Barbara Steele). Regional premieres for BIG BAD WOLVES ( (visceral Israeli revenge thriller) and STALLED ( (scatological zombie comedy). A selection of new shorts interspersed throughout the festival, including Alfie Allen in Paul Davis’s darkly funny THE BODY (, Dominic Brunts’s (Before Dawn, Emmerdale) SHELLSHOCKED ( with Q&A from cast and crew. THE MACHINE ( will be this year’s closing night movie a new UK sci-fi thriller that’s being compared to BLADERUNNER and has lit up festivals such as Fantasia and Tribeca. After the launch on October 2nd at Stockport Plaza, Grimmfest 2013 will continue from October 3rd- 6th, at the Dancehouse Theatre and the Lass O’ Gowrie, Manchester.
