Vancouver Mandarin Chinese Meetup: February 8, Metrotown (Burnaby)

  • Feb 8, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Because of the Olympics coming up and the downtown core hardly accessible, we decided to have only one Meetup in February: it will be the second Monday of the month in Metrotown Food Court. The meeting will be held behind the Starbucks in the Food Court at Metrotown by the fireplace. It's the Starbucks in location U-K in this
map (It's not the one by Sears, it's the "Kiosk" one in the Food Court.) Come to talk, listen, discuss, learn... I also want to bring to your attention several activities linked to the Lunar New Year and the Olympics: on Sunday February 14th, a Lunar Year Parade will be organized in Chinatown with additional activities at the
LiveCity Downtown site at Georgia and Beatty at 11am. Please make sure to show up for the meetup if you RSVP "yes". Huan ying dajia can jia women de hui jia! Ci zhi

Some of you may have heard that I'm wrapping up a project I've been working on for the past several months. It's an eBook on how to learn Chinese characters and is aimed at beginners, as well as those people who are just having trouble grasping how to read, write, and understand Chinese characters in general.

I will be selling this eBook online starting Dec. 25, but I wanted to first give out five free copies to this group since I have had such a fun time participating in all the various club activities and meeting many interesting people over the past half year.

If you are interested in receiving a free copy, please email [masked] on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 8:00am. Please also include "Van Mandarin Club Free eBook" as the subject line. I will then check for the first five emails timestamped as 8:00am or later.

If you would like to glance at what you'll find inside, please visit the following link:

    Happy holidays!

Generally speaking, it is a great group to learn Mandarin. If I am assigned to make it even better, I would do a researh on everyone's language background and match people into pairs to reach a better result. The activities can be designed better to get everyone involved as well.
