We're starting a new book, Meatonomics by David Robinson Simon.
This book discusses the economic forces behind the production of meat, fish, eggs, and dairy and how what they do affects people's ability to decide for themselves what - and how much - to eat. One reviewer on Amazon made this comment, "We like to think we live in a democracy, where public officials tend the general welfare. But increasingly, corporate lobbyists write our laws, and corporate interests dictate what we are allowed to know..."
Sound interesting? If so, get the book and we'll see you on April 7.
This book club meets every other Monday. For our first meeting, we'll read the Author's Note, Introduction, and Chapter 1.
As with all of our book club meetings, it is important that everyone attending the meetup:
• Read the assigned chapters and come prepared to discuss them. (Also, be sure you've read all the prior chapters.)
• Arrive on time and stay until the meeting ends (if you plan to get dinner at Whole Foods, please arrive in time to get your dinner in place by 6:45).
• Bring your book to the meeting.
