"The Art and Craft of Digital Photography" with Harold Davis

January 14th, 2014 - MPC Education Night** (See Note Below!)

Harold's presentation topic will be "The Art and Craft of Digital Photography." In the context of his work, he will show how understanding photography and post-production work together to inform the basis of a new art form. The next segment of the presentation will survey some of the sources of creativity, in the context of some Zen ways of thinking---such as the utility of seeing the world with "beginner's mind." He will demonstrate and provide and overview of some of his unique processing techniques. Finally, for those that are interested, he will discuss digital printmaking, and show some prints on interesting substrates, such as Moenkopi Unryu washi and Moab Slickrock Silver.

Here's a bio: Harold Davis is a legendary photographer and digital artist whose work is widely collected. He is the author of many bestselling photography books, including: "Photographing Flowers" and "The Photoshop Darkroom", both published by Focal Press, and "The Way of the Digital Photographer", published by Peachpit Press.

Harold has been recognized as a Moab Master for his hand-crafted, fine art prints. He has been honored by Karl Zeiss as their "Camera Lenses Ambassador." His popular workshops are often sold out. You can find out more about Harold and his work at his website: http://www.photoblog2.com .
