101 E Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Larkspur, CA
Greeting Photo Fans,
We've planned a trip to the Embarcadero in San Francisco on Tuesday, December 13th for a night shoot of the holiday lights and other points of interest. It's also the date of another super moon which will be rising at 5:09 that evening. We're planning on taking the Larkspur ferry which leaves at 3:40 PM and arrives in SF at 4:15 PM., so we should have time to find a good place for a moon shoot. It has been suggested that Piers 7-14 work well and are in the area where we'll be located. "The Photographer's Ephemeris" website has great information on this subject.
There won't be a detailed itinerary otherwise so that people can explore and decide where and what they want to shoot on their own. Any suggestions about specific locations around the area that might be of interest to the group would be welcome.
Parking near or at the ferry is limited so car pooling is essential. But parking is free after 1:00. Aside from the ferry lot there is the annex across the street where the Airporter used to be. Larkspur Landing is off limits as parking is allowed only for mall visitors. The parking at Jasons is possible to meet for carpools but you might want to park on the outer edges of the lot. Also there is one Park and Ride across from Jasons that might have some space, but not likely. Places to park can sometimes be found on the hill past the fire station going towards Jasons.
We'll be catching the 7:40 ferry to arrive back in Larkspur at 8:00.
If it rains the trip will be canceled, but we will try to reschedule for another time.
We're looking forward to having many of you join us, and you expert night photographers who might be willing to share your expertise with others would be especially welcome.
