Oregon Ridge Novice Hike (Alternating Weeks)

Starting promptly at 9am at Oregon Ridge Park (Nature Center). The Nature Center entrance is on Beaver Dam Rd., only about 50 feet south of Shawan Rd., just behind the Oregon Grille restaurant parking lot. It's called Kurtz Lane on many maps. Follow this road for roughly 1/2 mile to get to the parking lot.

We meet in the parking lot between the lake and the Nature Center. Look for the "carved" wooden bench. You can't miss us.

We will walk just under two miles, at a comfortable pace for beginners. We will alternate the many different trails that are there. All trails do require climbing the central hill in the park. Actual walking time will be roughly one hour, but we'll also take a break or two.

Go here for an excellent map of the park with the Nature Center entrance clearly marked.

Some may want to stay for a while later and take advantage of the free exhibits at the Nature Center. Others may want to stay for a swim at the lake, in season (one of Baltimore County's best kept secrets), which does carry a daily charge.

I will not post cancellations because of the weather. I assume we're all capable of making that decision as each of us sees fit.

If you decide to respond "Yes" to this event and later change your mind for whatever reason, please, please go in and change your RSVP to a "No". That way, we know not to be waiting for you. Thanks.

The exercise was wonderful. I enjoyed talking with people and being outside on a beautiful day. I am not in great condition and so walked slowly, yet this didn't seem to hinder anyone's progress. Paul was terrific and kept tabs on us all.
