Ethics and Morals (dinner and discussion)

  • Apr 15, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

One of the benefits of practical philosophy is to give us tools to better manage ethical and moral challenges in daily life. This event will provide the opportunity to delve into some interesting sub-topics within this theme from a practical perspective.

PLEASE REMEMBER to view at least one of the videos on our Food for Thought page prior to attending this event:

- Can I just show up in person and pay at the door? No, all members much pay on-line via this Meetup page since there are a limited number of physical seats at our events and it has been proven that people who pay online for Meetup events are much more likely to actually show up. You don't need a PayPal account - just follow the RSVP steps and look for the link to pay with your credit card. Click here for more payment FAQs

- Why is there a small fee for these events? Click here to view the 7 reasons why there is a small fee for attending our events

- Do I need to have any formal philosophy experience to be part of these events? No, this is not required. Click here to find out more about the nature of our events

Facilitator Information

As previously mentioned, our members take turns helping to facilitate our discussions. We require one discussion facilitator for each table of 6 people but I doubt that we`ll have a problem finding volunteers.

Coordinator Information

Unfortunately I (Glen Brauer) won't be able to attend this event in person but I will be coordinating it to run just as smoothly as the events which I'm able to attend in person. The Meetup system automatically adds me to the RSVP list when I upload the events but I eventually remove my RSVP as soon as people sign up.

Thank you for the kind comments. Don't worry about mixing up my name with Walter. Somebody else calls me Wally sometimes.

An interesting evening with good discussion, thoughts and ideas - thank you Howard.

Howard, my apologies for the error in name! You, Howard, did a marvellous job!

The topic was thought provoking as well as provoking some heated discussion. Walter reminded all of us of a very valuable point in our discussion guidelines; that we do not need to agree on all issues, simply accept that we may agree to disagree. We are there to explore our differences as well as our similarities, not to convert the group to one way of thinking. Well done, Walter.

Sorry I arrived late. Pre-discussion materials well prepared in advance. Would have been nice to read a brief description of what the "experts" had to say on each question versus we lay folk. Thanks for an interesting evening and I look forward to next one.
PS please mark me as having attended :) Thanks

Sorry I will be working. I really enjoyed the last evening. See some of you at the end of the month.

Glen, I will facilitate the dinner on the 30th if you need someone.

Thanks Peter, but considering that you were gracious enough to facilitate for the previous event could you be the backup facilitator instead? I want to try to rotate the facilitators as much as possible to let the others know that it's easier than it seems and it's part of how the group operates.
