The Greenville Meditation Meetup Group Weekly Meetup
Our merry little group was originally founded in 2004 by Brad Fohr, who offered information on Zen meditation techniques. We have kept some of the Zen meditation traditions in our sessions but members are welcome to meditate in any style they wish as long as it is silent. Luci Fernandez is leading the sessions. If you would like an orientation in meditation techniques, let us know by e-mail. To do so you can click on Jim Lawrence's link on the left and send a message though Meetup. We will arrange to meet you about 10 minutes before the session begins. We meditate for 40 minutes in the choir practice room which is down the first hallway to the right and is the 2nd door on the left. You will see a cart full of mats and cushions and our footwear right outside of that door. If you have any valuables (purse, phone, etc.) you may bring them into the room and keep them near you. Please remember to silence your cell phone. Most members prefer to park in the lot behind the church. If you arrive after we have already started, you'll know by the silence, just select a mat and cushion, come in as quietly as you can and sit down. If you are unsure of what to do, just do what everyone around you seems to be doing. As a meditator, the less you are doing, the better you are doing! You don't need to bring anything special but we recommend comfortable, loose fitting clothing. All are welcome. There is no need to RSVP but doing so may encourage more to join us. We typically have anywhere from 4-7 members show up. Please contact us if you would like more information. There are weblinks on the left side of the home page under "Messages" to websites that might be of interest to you. There is also an excellent article under "Files" entitled Mindfulness in Plain English. Please join us!
