Yoga with Maria at Guang Ming temple. What a great way to start the New Year.

  • Second floor of the temple, look for folks carrying yoga mats.
  • Hatha Yoga involves asanas or yoga postures such as Padmasana made famous by the Buddha, which will help your meditation sessions. But you will need to come to a Yoga class regularly so that you can get your body to come to such a posture. You can do it. Make it a New Year's resolution to come to Yoga class and enhance your meditation practice.

    Maria asked me to promote this one Saturday class of hers, being that it falls on the first of the year, as a special New Year's day class dedicated to strengthening your New Year's resolutions. So, with focus and sincerity, you may visualize and think about your resolutions, while breathing into the poses, and imagine what a wonderful year it will be as you achieve or maintain your resolutions. You may also form the intention(s) for the class and for the rest of the year. So make this a special class, a great way to start the new year.     This class is becoming more and more popular but the space is still able to handle up to 25 people. Usually 15 to 20 people come to this class. Maria E. does a nice routine of Yoga asanas and carefully explains and demonstrates how to do them correctly. Great for beginners. Intermediates love it too because they can focus on improving their technique. Sometimes Ashtanga Yoga classes go too fast and so you might end up getting sloppy and this could result in overdoing it and might lead to unexpected injuries. Here you go at your own pace and you are given a nice length of time in the stretches to help lengthen your muscles and make you more flexible in a few classes. Don't forget your Yoga mat. Take your shoes and socks off. Wear lose clothes or clothes designed for Yoga. Drink plenty of water before and after. The room is kept cool at the beginning but it gets warmer as bodies move. Included is a relaxation on your back, and Maria will come to you to give you Reiki and brief massage on the earlobes and temple. People love it. The class should last a little over an hour, but may go as far as an hour and a half. Costs $10.00, a portion goes towards the Buddhist Temple.
