What we're about

Our group is committed to learning how to fully experience our joys and struggles with appreciation and openness. Using simple and easily-learned meditation practices, we can break old patterns of behavior that prevent true happiness, and reorient our actions to benefit ourselves and each other.

Kimberly Brown is a meditation teacher who specializes in helping people cultivate compassion and lovingkindness. A trusted instructor since 2011, she guides classes, workshops, and retreats to help individuals and groups rediscover their good hearts and wisdom using effective and modern techniques based on traditional Buddhist teachings.

Join us at our weekly Metta Group or at a retreat or workshop and learn to treat yourself and others with kindness, care, love, and wisdom.

Discovering Compassion - Brooklyn!

Shantideva Center (FPMT)

Though compassion is often confused with putting others' welfare above our own, real wisdom understands that genuine self-concern is a necessary foundation for kindness and compassion towards all beings. In this three week series, we’ll look at the difference between self-compassion and self-indulgence, transform emotional barriers and resistances, and practice responding to self-judgement and criticism with understanding and patience. This program is open to everyone. No experience with meditation is necessary, and you’re welcome to attend one or all of the sessions.
