What we're about

This book club aims to combine all of the best parts of book clubs and Meetups, with the addition of lazy Sunday brunch. If you llove book, and want to meet some lovely new people while scoping out new brunch places around Tacoma and the surrounding area, please come along.

Please try your best to read the book, but please feel free to attend even if you haven't quite managed to finish it!

Each Meetup we decide on the next book and brunch spot, so please share recommendations!

1) Two strikes and your out. We understand things happen but due to the fact that some places require us to limit our number based on space available and other locations require us the organizer to put down a credit card to hold the space, this rule is designed to limit the amount of no-show occurrences.

2)To go with the rule above, if you are unable to attend, please change your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance to allow others the chance to attend. Failure to change an RSVP within this time frame will also count as a "no-show".

2)If you are running late, please contact the meetup host through the App.

3)Practice the "golden rule" with other members (and hopefully life in general).

Currently, we're reading a different genre each month so that everyone gets a little of something they love to read. The remainder of 2021 is as follows:

August: Mystery

September: Women's Fiction

October: Horror

November: Non-Fiction Humor

December: Young Adult/New Adult

September Brunch - The Last Apothecary

In September we’re reading The Last Apothecary by Sarah Penner.

Hidden in the depths of eighteenth-century London, a secret apothecary shop caters to an unusual kind of clientele. Women across the city whisper of a mysterious figure named Nella who sells well-disguised poisons to use against the oppressive men in their lives. But the apothecary’s fate is jeopardized when her newest patron, a precocious twelve-year-old, makes a fatal mistake, sparking a string of consequences that echo through the centuries.

Meanwhile in present-day London, aspiring historian Caroline Parcewell spends her tenth wedding anniversary alone, running from her own demons. When she stumbles upon a clue to the unsolved apothecary murders that haunted London two hundred years ago, her life collides with the apothecary’s in a stunning twist of fate—and not everyone will survive.

**Please be kind and remember to only RSVP if you can come and should this change, please update accordingly as we often have a waitlist. As reservations for groups are often challenging to get, we have a three strikes (no-shows) and you’re out policy**

***I am waiting on a confirmation email regarding the restaurant and will update the location when it has been received***
