What we're about

A meet up group for non-native English speakers to practice their conversational language skills with others in a friendly environment. The meetups will be hosted by a native English speaker, and offer an opportunity to learn colloquial English as well as the more formal variety! Making friends, tellling stories, and swapping languages is definitely encouraged.

Native speakers who want to come and make friends from far afield are encouraged to join, too.

Everyone is welcome, so come and be sociable with us.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Joey

Iranian street food evening

EX2 9BQ

My bf (Ollie) and I are starting an Iranian street food business. So we are doing a small trial run in our back yard and I would like to invite my friends from meetup :) There will be lots of food, including vegan and gluten free. All you need to bring is your appetite and a couple of drinks for yourself. Looking forward to see you

Caffeintated Conversation....

Cellar Bar, City Gate Hotel

This is our usual weekly Meetup. So come and join us for friendly conversation. It's a good opportunity to practise your spoken English with native speakers and to make some new friends. Everyone is welcome, whatever their English language level. The venue - the City Gate pub - has soft drinks and tea/coffee available for purchase, as well as other beverages. Currently we do not have to pay to hire the space and as the group has grown larger of late it would be appreciated if you could make a small purchase at the bar, just so they continue to be happy to host us. We can now normally be found in the back room of the pub - just go through the main bar area, past the kitchen and dining room. However, we cannot guarantee that this space will be available every week, so, if you can't find us there, have a look around - there are a number of bar areas in the pub and we should be in one of them! We don't run the Meetup to make a profit, however we do have to pay Meetup subscription fees (approx £12/month) which is why we ask members for a contribution of just 50p per Meetup you attend. Any additional money above the monthly fee total is held in reserve to pay the next set of Meetup fees, which are due every 6 months, payable in advance. Any questions, please post in the comments section below. Look forward to seeing you there!

Chilli Night at Clystlands

Clystlands House

Chilli night at Clystlands. What better way to say hello to autumn than by having a chilli Meetup? We're also welcoming my new lodger and 'celebrating' my start of academic term.
