This group originally started with Free Hatha yoga classes at Sentinel Performance and Strength (SPS) in Marlboro. SPS is the sponsor of these classes with its clients in mind but offers to the community as well.
COVID19 changes: classes are now via Zoom. Night classes are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8pm EST. These classes are 1 hour long and focus on stretching, relaxation and calming the mind to get ready for sleep. We occasionally practice to other type of yogas to include Yoga Nidra, Restorative, and Yin. Once in a while we have classes on Friday evenings or over the weekend class and special guest teachers.
Open to anyone over 12 years old. First half of each class is focused on stretching every muscle in your body, so folks that work out will benefit the most, this is also called Stretch Therapy. Second half is focused on preparing for the end of the day. Yoga is the connection between body, mind and soul so calming the mind and enriching the spirit are added benefits.
DISCLAIMER: Yoga is for everyone. However, when online, it is up to the individual to determine what is best for them. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Obviously, if you suffer from certain injuries or disease it is best to consult with your physician first before joining. If you are pregnant, best to follow specialized yoga for pregnancy. If you are new to yoga and join one of our classes please let me know in advance by logging in early to the class. I encourage 'child pose' and/or 'Savasana' as an alternative to challenging asanas. There is no judging or competition, our intention is to feel peace and joy. My wonderful students range from IronMan competitors to retirees like myself so some of the poses I teach but can't do, which is ok. There are all levels of flexibility and it also depends on the day, our bodies respond differently everyday. So my goal is for each student to feel better at the end of class compared to the start. I also feel great enjoyment when students share with me that they had a good night sleep the night after class.
