  • Rock Climbing

    Stone Summit Atlanta

Hey Friends! I'm organizing a rock climbing event. We will meet at the entrance at 2:30pm. This Meetup will take around 2-2.5 hr. The ticket with rental is $20 and without rental is $17. We will purchase the ticket and sign the waiver at the door. The RSVP deadline is 11:59pm on 3/6 so I have time to call the Rock Climbing place and get a reservation for our group. This is also my first time doing rock climbing so I'm excited!

  • Cheatham Hill Loop Trail (5.8 RT)

    Cheatham Hill Trailhead

It's about that time again! We've had a few requests for something near Kennesaw Mountain, so I think we are going to go with Cheatham Hill Loop Trail. I've never tried this one out before, but it looks pretty cool! There will be old farm houses and such along the way. From the looks of it, it looks like there is a little area for parking near the trail head - so I think we are all going to meet there most likely. Meeting Location (Trail Head): 699 Cheatham Hill Dr, Marietta, GA 30064 What to bring? - A small backpack or CamelBak with snacks. (Trail mix, sandwiches, etc.) - A solid of amount of water/gatorade, etc. - Good hiking shoes or boots. https://www.atlantatrails.com/hiking-trails/cheatham-hill-kolb-farm-loop-trail/ Note: If you set your status as "Going" or "Waitlist" and something comes up and you are unable to make it, remember to change your status to "Not Going." Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

  • Climbing at Stone Summit Atlanta

Stone Summit Climbing and Fitness Center

Hey everyone. I saw Vanilla’s post and thought it would be a good idea to add another climbing session. I’ve been going to Stone Summit quite often so I figure I could do a meetup. Welcome to the world of climbing! Come on out and get high with me. Stone Summit has routes and problems for all skill levels. Admission is $20 with gear rental or $17 without rental. If your a first time climber at Stone Summit please check out their website. You’ll need to sign a waiver form before climbing. Also, if you aren’t belay certified, I recommend signing up for their class at 11:30 am. It’s actually only $15 for admission and gear rental and it’ll take about an hour. Slots are limited. There are cubbies to the right of the entrance. I will be hanging out there until 12:45 so everyone has a chance to meet one another and/or group up. https://www.ssclimbing.com

  • Panther Creek Falls

    Location visible to members

Let’s hope we are past our deep freeze phase like puberty and look forward to some good hiking weather. Let’s try Panther creek falls (The big one not the one you can swim in). Kind of a tough one since the beginning is downhill and we will end with a lot of uphill hiking. Let’s go past the falls and stop where the Trail meets up with the Conasauga River Trail. https://www.atlantatrails.com/hiking-trails/cohutta-wilderness-panther-creek-falls/

  • Chattahoochee River Day Hike - Indian Trail (2.5 miles RT)

East Palisades Trailhead - Indian Trail Rd

Let’s get outside this Saturday and explore one of my favorite trails right here in the city! The trails at this branch of the Hooch lead to 2 great overlooks, some mill ruins, Devils Racecourse Shoals, and the famed bamboo forest! The hike is an easy 2.5 mile out-and-back hike, although there are options to hike longer if we want. Bring a friend or bring your dog! I will be bringing my Labrador retriever, Belle. When you find the entrance, drive all the way to the end of the gravel road and park in the large dirt lot. I drive a grey Jeep Compass. Be sure to bring $3 cash for the daily parking fee or your Chattahoochee NRA annual pass if you have one. I plan on starting the hike at 10:15, if you are running late and need to figure out where we are, call me:[masked] See you there!!

  • Blood Mountain - Byron Reece Trailhead (4.3 miles RT)

    Byron Reece trailhead parking

Okay, so we've had a ton of requests for Blood Mountain, so it's time to finally do it, to it! I think the best plan for this (and to save gas for everyone) will be carpooling at a separate meetup spot, and then taking 2-3 cars from there. I probably want to meet early around 8am to carpool, and we'll meet at the trail head at 10am to hike, and we can all meet by the by the soccer fields inside the park. (I looked at the map and it's halfway for anyone coming from Atlanta.) I would also like to head to downtown Helen for lunch if anyone is up for that? I think it's like 30 minutes back from the trail. Please place a comment below if you RSVP and choose to opt out of the carpooling. That we won't be waiting on anyone. Meeting Location: 3150 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022 Trailhead Address: Byron Reece Memorial Trail, Blairsville, GA 30512 What to bring? - A small backpack or CamelBak with snacks. (Trail mix, sandwiches, etc.) I would also bring your lunch on this one. We will sit down to rest/eat for a bit, once we reach the summit at the top. - A solid of amount of water/gatorade, etc. - Good hiking shoes or boots. https://www.atlantatrails.com/hiking-trails/wooded-serenity-the-appalachian-trail-at-blood-mountain/ Note: If you set your status as "Going" or "Waitlist" and something comes up and you are unable to make it, remember to change your status to "Not Going." • Winter Ski Trip

    Sappahire Ski Resort

Hi everyone! Since some attendees cannot make it, I'm re-opening the RSVP again till 9pm today. Our itinerary is below: leave Friday around 6pm, ski for the entire Saturday, and return on Sunday. So far the weather looks great--sunny for both Sapphire and Atlanta. The ski ticket is $60 (including ski rental) and we will airbnb together (roughly about $50-70 per person for two nights). We will book the airbnb together. But you are responsible for your own ski tickets and ski clothing (pants, jackets, gloves, gauges). If you are willing to join, please mark yourself and msg me ASAP with your phone number. So I can add you to our groupme and confirm your attendance. I'm excited to see everyone at the trip!
