  • At 6:30 pm, Chess Max Academy is organizing an official blitz tournament

It consists of playing 9-10 blitz games with a time control of 5 minutes per game against a number of different opponents.

The best 2 players will get cash prizes, while all meetup members not placing, will get a consolation prize of one of my instructional DVDs (a $35 value).

Players who are not members of the U.S. Chess Federation will be required to join ($20-49$ depending on the kind of membership). Additionally there is an entry fee of $40 to participate in the tournament).

Please let me know in advance if you are interested in playing, as space is limited.

You can RSVP here or by emailing me to [masked] or by texting to 917-9308840.

    Thank you.

Ooops sorry all, forgot I have an appointment this Tues evening 12/6. So can't make it but hopefully next time. A suggestion: maybe also a non-blitz longer time control game enabling USCF rating results would attract more tournament participants, especially lower rated and/or beginner players.

    Although only a 1400+ (CCLNY/BAL) player I’m game.
I’ve been a USCF member for years but never officially competed. Plus hey it’s BLITZ anything can happen! For me a great way to ‘break the ice’ and at the same time support our Meetup Group.
