Where: Online via the DISCORD app on your computer or phone:
Book: "Sapiens: A brief History of Human Kind" by Yuval Noah Harari

Historian and philosopher Yuval Noah Harari takes on the vast sweep of human history, looking to the past to understand how ideas, communication, symbolic languages, scientific knowledge, and technology, have enabled homo sapiens to proliferate, form large complex societies, and dominate the planet’s resources. In the spirit of “Big History”, the book skims over details and looks for patterns and trends on a global scale.

Bridging the realms of scientific literacy and artistic creativity, the SciArt Book Club is a forum for discussing new ideas and their relevance for humanity in the 21st century. We aim to cover some of today’s most scientifically and socially vital topics through a variety of recently published books. Generally the Club meets every 6 weeks on Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm. WE WILL MEET ONLINE FOR THE DURATION OF THE VIRUS PANDEMIC. Notes suggesting ideas for discussion are sent out before each meeting, and members are encouraged to bring their own questions. All levels of preparedness are welcome. If you are not on the member list and wish to receive the next meeting's location and discussion questions, please email host Alison Berry: [masked]
