For the Women Outdoors National Annual Gathering, women from across the country come together for 2.5 wonderful days of fun and adventure. The YMCA's Berkshire Outdoor Center (BOC) operates multiple campuses in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains in Becket, Massachusetts. This year, we'll be staying at the Becket Campus.
We'll all be together at the historic Gibson Hall lodge. Steps away will be boating and swimming on the gorgeous, pristine Rudd Pond.
The activities at the Gathering are a combination of volunteer-led workshops and offerings from BOC staff. Favorites include the hike to see, up close, the dam and lodges of the American Beavers that live on nearby ponds; lantern making workshops with our creative maven Monica; kayaking and canoeing instruction with our ACA certified instructors Bonna and Deb; boating on 100-acre Rudd Pond; a night walk where you'll learn things about pirates and eyeballs that you well may never have known; a challenge course that will include a climbing tower, high ropes, and a zip line, and much, much more!
Members in the past have offered workshops such as orienteering, knot tying, bicycle repair, camp cooking, drumming and first aid. We've had drum circles, singing around the campfire, and a nighttime Frisbee game that was chaotic, fun mayhem!
PLEASE NOTE: The Gathering is open only to dues-paying members of the Women Outdoors organization. Joining this Meetup group does not make you a WO member; you can sign up, starting at $30/year (or $15 for those under 18, full-time students, and seniors) at our organization's national site: http://womenoutdoors.org/joinus.
