What we're about

Chisholm Trail Chorus is an award-winning chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an independent, non-profit music education association dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of four-part harmony singing for women of all ages around the world. The purpose of this organization is to educate members in the art of singing a Capella music, barbershop style. Learn more at http://chisholmtrailchorus.org/

The chorus performs throughout the year in Central Texas, recently singing the Star Spangled Banner for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas Women of Distinction Banquet in Killeen, and entertaining residents at the Wesleyan at Estrella in Georgetown.

Our members come from all around Central Texas: Temple, Belton, Troy, Rogers, Little River, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Georgetown and Lometa.

Award-winning music:

The chorus was founded in 1982 and competed regionally for the first time in 1983 in Dallas winning Best Small Chorus. With numerous awards throughout the years we again won first place, Small Chorus, in 2016.

Chorus Trivia:

Chisholm Trail Chorus' charter was issued on Feb. 16, 1982.

Over the years, some chorus members have traveled to Russia, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Wales, Italy, Germany, England, Ireland and Scotland as representatives of Chisholm Trail Chorus and the region's Ambassador Chorus. In 2011 members of the chorus sang at Carnegie Hall over the Memorial Day weekend.

The chorus has had three directors in its 36-year history: Nancy Carter (1981 - 1996); Janie Macchiaroli (1996 - 1997); and Carol Scherer (1997 - present).
