What we're about

The vision of this group is to bring people together by creating spaces where people, who would usually never interact with each other, can come together.

Ethnicity is the fact or state of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition. It is great to have a cultural background that you are knowledgeable about, and it is also okay if you don’t feel a connection with your ethnic background.

One certainty is that the experiences of your past have made you into the person you are today, but it shouldn’t determine who you hang around with, who you are perceived as, or what you do in the future.

There is an idea that a person who does not share your cultural background cannot understand who you are, and that someone who shares the same cultural background will understand more of who you are. As that same person could understand your past it doesn’t mean that they can understand your current love of soccer, sports, video games, keeping up with makeup trends, the perfect eyebrow, anime, politics, your favorite artist/band/group, going out, staying in, going to conventions, concerts, meet-ups, and etc.

The hope for this group is to bring you around people that will look different from you, act different from you, speak differently from you, but still share similar interest as you. It is important to be aware of the difference between you and someone else as long as you are also open to discovering similarities. In order to do that, this group invites every ethnic group from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America.

There are no specifics as to what the group will pertain to or do, at the moment, because that will be decided as more people are able to join and we’ll figure it out together.
