Solomon Island Lunch & Cruise Day Trip

Calvert Marine Museum

No need to pack your bags to have a great time! Let's spend the day uncovering the secrets of Solomon Island. Solomon Island is a waterfront village south of Washington, situated at the apex of the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay, has eight marinas, neighbors Calvert Cliffs State Park and is home to the Calvert Marine Museum. http://solomonsmaryland.com/ We will venture out early to visit the Calvert Marine Museum, where it displays aquatic exhibits, lighthouse exhibits and surprisingly, hosts the new Dinosaurs of Maryland exhibit which showcases dinosaur fossils, as part of their collaboration with the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. ***Museum admission is $9 for adults, $7 for senior (55 and older). Group discounts are offered to parties of 10 or more. http://www.calvertmarinemuseum.com/ In addition to their exhibits and art, the museum provides tickets to the Wm. B. Tennison and other cruises. So, while at the museum, we will purchase tickets for the 1-hour Island cruise on the Wm. B. Tennison, departing at 2:00 PM. The box office opens at 10:00 AM and is first come first serve, so we will purchase tickets as soon as it opens. ***Cruise tickets are $7 for adults. When we wrap up at the museum, we will head over to The Pier for lunch at 12:00 PM and enjoy delicious island-inspired treats. https://thepiersolomons.com/menu/ After lunch, we will head back to the Calvert Marine Museum for the 2:00 PM cruise. Following the cruise, if interested, we can recap the day with apps and beverages at another venue or just wrap the day and head home. Carpooling is highly recommended, since the Island is just over an hour from Washington. Please note in your comments if you would like to carpool so that we can coordinate a caravan or for those closer to the area, we can meet at the Calvert Maritime Museum at 9:30 AM. Looking forward to exploring Solomon Island! P3
