Dealing with stress and anxiety in a world fraught with troubles “All the suffering there is in this world arises from wishing our self to be happy. All the happiness there is in this world arises from wishing others to be happy.” (Shantideva) Coping with the world can be very harmful to one's physical health as well as mental happiness. Unfortunately we can not change the world around us, but can learn not only coping mechanisms, but through understanding suffering, we can develop compassion. It is through this compassion that we "shift" our own world view - and that of others around us resulting in a more compassionate view and a more peaceful self. The day will be a mixture of short lectures and meditations with plenty of time for discussion and questions. There will be a lunch break from 12-1:30. You are welcome to bring your own food but we can not offer our kitchen for heating food. We will accommodate refrigeration if needed and you are welcome to use the patio out back during the break. We welcome Ani Jane, a Tibetan Buddhist nun with over 25 years experience for our special event. Ani Jane (Ngawang Chog Sum Drolma) grew up in New Jersey and in 2004 she moved to India and Nepal where she lived until 2012. In 2006 Ani Jane received her vows of ordination in the Sakya tradition, in India. She has been studying the Buddha Dharma over 25 years. which has included many of the great treatises of Tibetan Buddhism and has received empowerments and transmissions of all major lower and highest yoga tantras.
