Calling all tortured artists.... lovers, madmen and poets.... survivors who are moved to turn destruction into construction....
Do you have a story that aches to be told? Are you ready to be SEEN, to be HEARD, to share your art, your truth, with others in a safe and nurturing space?
This is a group for artists with a disability or chronic illness, writers with a mental illness, writers carrying the weight of trauma, the weight of grief, the weight of a world where beauty is traded for money, where rivers are polluted and the land stripped bare, where we can be surrounded by people and yet feel more alone than ever. Let us heal through the words and images we weave, let us find our voice again, let us bring our shadows into the light, and let us feel human connection again.
The purpose of this group is to meet other artists on the healing path and give people the opportunity to share their art with others. This may be within a small group at one of our meet ups, or via a magazine which I would like to create with anyone who feels drawn to this. The possibilities are endless. I am hoping this group will motivate us with our art; I very much look forward to seeing your work.
“An artist is typically a being that is filled with so much passion, love, or pain for certain lands, people ideas or images that all they can do with that overflow is bleed it out by creating. And with this type of art, the energy will be shifted from the depths of them and into the depths of the audience to be felt. It is a dance. A transference. An intimacy. It is to touch and awaken another human in a place they hadn’t known was aching, or sleeping. Both are opened. Both are nourished. Both are transformed.” Victoria Erickson
