About us
This is a group for anyone interested in climbing, fitness, yoga, or just hanging out with a cool group of people! All skill levels are welcome, so don't be shy. We look forward to meeting others that we can climb with, whether indoors or outdoors. We also love yoga, cycling, running, slacklining, playing games, and just having fun getting to know new people in an inclusive environment.

Volunteer with ASCEND Sustainability Club x Allegheny GoatScape at Hays Woods
Hays Woods, 1009 Agnew Rd Trailhead,, Pittsburgh, PA, USWho: ASCEND Sustainability Club, Allegheny GoatScape
When: Sunday, June 28, 9-11 am
Where: Hays Woods, Agnew Rd Trailhead, Pittsburgh, PA 15236
What: We're teaming up with Allegheny GoatScape to help their goats remove invasive plants from Hays Woods, Pittsburgh's newest and second-largest park. This volunteer opportunity will involve the use of hand tools, which may include the use of pruning tools, handsaws, and loppers. Please note that the terrain may be overgrown and/or uneven at spots. But most importantly -- and we can't emphasize this enough -- there will be goats! A whole herd of 'em! And a donkey! They'll eat the stuff volunteers cut down. It's a good time.
What to bring/wear: Bring a water bottle. Be sure to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (hiking boots or work boots are best). Long socks are recommended so pant legs can be tucked in to prevent ticks. Hand tools and work gloves will be supplied, but you may also bring your own. Bug spray and sunblock might come in handy. Dress for the weather.
Volunteer capacity: This event can support up to 12 volunteers. Please click here to sign up in advance so we know how many people to expect.
About ASCEND Sustainability Club: ASCEND Sustainability Club is a rock-climbing social club dedicated to making the world a better place through environmental stewardship, community engagement, and the promotion of sustainable practices on and off the wall. We climb together indoors the first Thursday of each month, alternating between ASCEND Climbing Gym's two Pittsburgh locations (South Side and Point Breeze). The club also includes a branch in Erie, Pennsylvania. Click here to learn more, or follow us on Instagram for regular updates here.
About Allegheny GoatScape: Allegheny GoatScape is a 501c3 non-profit that improves community ecology by clearing overgrown land with a friendly herd of goats. With every bite, the goats restore balance to our landscapes by clearing unwanted vegetation to help native plants and local ecosystems thrive. Click here to learn more.
About Hays Woods: Hays Woods encompasses undeveloped forest, valleys, and streams along the southeast end of Pittsburgh and across the Mon from Hazelwood and is now home to the largest new urban park project undertaken east of the Mississippi River in 75 years. After being ecologically degraded by decades of coal mining, the city of Pittsburgh officially purchased the land in 2023. Click here to learn more.

ASCEND Run Club (South Side)
ASCEND South Side, 2141 Mary St, Pittsburgh, PA, USASCEND Run Club formed in April 2017. We're a casual group of climbers who are also born to run! We meet every Monday evening near ASCEND Pittsburgh's front desk at 5:45p to mingle and warm up, and take off promptly at 6p! If you're late, you better be fast ;) Typically, everyone starts together and links with similar paces for a 3, 5, or 7 mile run around the South Side, ending back at ASCEND. But occasionally we spice things up and head to the Point, to the top of Mount Washington, or hit the trails in the South Side Park! Any and all are welcome and you do not need to be a member of ASCEND to participate. Spread the word!
In order to participate in Run Club you must register and complete the ASCEND Clubs Waiver, which is different than the ASCEND Facility Waiver. Get all the details and links at ascendclimbing.com/runclub.
