What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in climbing, fitness, yoga, or just hanging out with a cool group of people! All skill levels are welcome, so don't be shy. We look forward to meeting others that we can climb with, whether indoors or outdoors. We also love yoga, cycling, running, slacklining, playing games, and just having fun getting to know new people in an inclusive environment.

Seneca Road Trip

Needs a location

Pittsburgh is a uniquely situated metropolitan area, adjacent to the magnificent Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. Within this range is a spectacular rock formation named Seneca Rocks, which has been a documented destination for rock climbers for nearly a hundred years. Many of the United States' top-rated routes are located at Seneca Rocks. In fact, the tallest peak on the east coast only accessible by techincal climbing is located at Seneca Rocks.

Unique fins of Tuscarora quartzite tower over a confluence of two rivers, offering spectacular multipitch climbing and breathtaking exposure that have called to climbers from around the world for decades. Seneca Rocks is a necessary climbing experience for any outdoor climber, and ASCEND is thrilled to partner with Seneca Rocks Mountain Guides (www.tradclimbing.com) to offer a nearly-all-inclusive rock climbing experience on its iconic formations.

This camping and climbing trips is open to all skill levels and includes:
- Two full days of custom tailored climbing (Saturday and Sunday); experiences are tailored to your skill level and vary from standard top-roping, to multipitch climbing, to actually summitting South Peak of Seneca Rocks!

- Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning (please email [masked] with any dietary restrictions)

BIPOC Climbing Affinity Session

Needs a location

This free climbing session is intended for those in our community who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color). All ages, abilities, members and guests are welcome to come!

Join ASCEND as we celebrate our diverse communities with the BIPOC Affinity Sessions — a climbing session, on the first Saturday of each month, dedicated to individuals who haven't always had equal access to or treatment within the sport. It's a space dedicated to intentional inclusivity, not exclusivity, and we invite you to participate and be a part of these efforts.

Please register for the BIPOC Affinity Session here: https://app.rockgympro.com/b/widget/?a=offering&offering_guid=dc72f5fac0474a40b7f5445e2aa0fca2&random=60db829dd6668&iframeid=&mode=p

ASCEND Run Club (Pittsburgh)

Needs a location

ASCEND Run Club formed in April 2017. We're a casual group of climbers who are also born to run! We meet every Monday evening near ASCEND Pittsburgh's front desk at 5:45p to mingle and warm up, and take off promptly at 6p! If you're late, you better be fast ;) Typically, everyone starts together and links with similar paces for a 3, 5, or 7 mile run around the South Side, ending back at ASCEND. But occasionally we spice things up and head to the Point, to the top of Mount Washington, or hit the trails in the South Side Park! Any and all are welcome and you do not need to be a member of ASCEND to participate. Spread the word!

If you're interested in becoming an ASCEND Run Club Captain, or starting a club out of ASCEND Youngstown, visit ascendclimbing.com/volunteers to help build the group's presence!

In order to participate in Run Club you must register and complete the ASCEND Clubs Waiver, which is different than the ASCEND Facility Waiver. Get all the details and links at ascendclimbing.com/runclub.
