What we're about

Hi, we are Via Engineering, Via company's Engineering group and we plan to occasionally host technology oriented meetups and gatherings in our TLV headquarters.
Everybody with interest in Technology and Public Transportation is more than welcome to join us and share the knowledge.
Our meetups will include talks and discussions by the best developers/designers/product managers/testers etc.. in our field.

Looking forward meeting every one of you!

Modern App Development and Computer Vision

Derech Menachem Begin 144

Via TLV is pleased to invite you all to the first TLVia Meetup on various current mobile development topics. In this meetup, there will be multiple lectures about topics like: Mobile development & Test Automation in scale, Build / CI systems for mobile and advanced topics like Computer Vision on mobile. The lectures will be by both Via and external developers. Schedule: 18:00 - 18:30 Gathering/Mingling 18:30 - 18:55 Lecture 1 Pavel Zagalsky A look at Via's Mobile Parallel Automation Testing Framework In this talk I will describe the framework we built at Via to automatically test our Android and iOS apps using Espresso (an automated testing framework for Android apps), XCUITest (an automated testing framework for iOS apps), HipTest (Test scenarios aggregator), Jenkins Pipelines and Kubernetes based backend services. In the session we'll demo the framework in action, review sample test and framework code, share design considerations and lessons learned, and show how we plan to scale the framework to support hundreds of new platforms in the future. 18:55 - 19:15 Lecture 2 Avihu Turzion Templating iOS Apps Rebrand a complex existing iOS app with minimal changes to the code. Leverage external tools and the Xcode build system to rebrand the app for you while working on a single codebase. 19:15 - 19:30 Break/Pizza/Some more mingling 19:30 - 20:15 Lecture 3 Eynav Mass Flutter Who?! - Flutter under the hood. Flutter, Dart and other flavors; Lately Flutter has came as a breaking news storm into the mobile development arena, But what’s really there behind the scenes? The lecture will walk through Dart and what are the main implementation ideas behind Flutter on top of iOS and Android. 20:15 - 20:30 Break/Even more mingling 20:30 - 21:15 Lecture 4 Sebastien Derhy Practical guide to computer vision for mobile developers Computer vision has become ubiquitous in today's mobile experience: whether it's to unlock your smartphone, take beautiful pictures, or search for your last holiday selfie, our devices are now able to understand the content in pictures just as we do. The goal of this talk is to help mobile developers see through the hype of deep learning and computer vision, and understand in practice where they can/should use CV, how to implement it, and what kind of skills/efforts are required (spoiler: most use-cases don't require small efforts and no domain expertise!). We won't teach you how to code computer vision algorithms from scratch, but we'll try to explain at high-level what's happening behind the scene. 21:15 - Final mingling and closing doors
