10+ Mile Hike Tapia Canyon
Details
This will be at least 10 miles but only about 500 feet of elevation. There are some ruins, petroglyphs, an optional trip up a narrow slot canyon starting under an amazing arch. On AllTrails it is listed as 8.1 miles and 457 vertical feet, but the access road is washed out to that adds 1.2 miles each way. It shows an hour and 45 minutes from Home Depot and lots of this in dirt roads, so let's carpool over and ideally in higher clearance AWD cars. Bring plenty of water, food, sunscreen, and a hat. I would discourage dogs due to length. It is an out and back, so there is potential for some to cut it short but you miss some cool parts. There is also Guadalupe Ruins nearby with a 0.5 mile trail that could be stopped at if anyone has energy after Tapia Canyon. I pasted in both AllTrails links.
