Check out this 2.5-mile loop trail near Raleigh, North Carolina. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 53 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

The Durant Nature Preserve Border Loop Trail is primarily level and offers views of hardwood trees and rock outcrops. However, patches of mud are present on the trail, especially by the creek, which separates the Simms Branch Trail from the forested Border Trail. The Border Trail runs parallel to the creek as you hike along it.

Occasionally, you have to hop across rocks or go through water. Whale Rocks is a noteworthy location where you may view enormous rock formations that have a whale-like appearance. Natural sand pits and dry creek beds can be found along the trail. Additionally, the trail winds through pine tree-heavy sections. There are plenty of wildlife chances, including red-tailed hawks, turtles, lizards, and minnow
