This is a group for curious readers who like to read books from a wide variety of genres and discuss them. The books will be chosen from works of literary fiction, plays, short stories, essays, travel writing, philosophy, history, science, political science, memoirs, and outstanding examples of genre fiction that have passed the test of time.
The books will be chosen both for the presumed merit of the writing itself, and for their suitability for generating an interesting discussion. We will probably focus on short- to medium-length books to ensure that everyone has time to read them. I don't expect that all the selections will appeal to everyone, but I hope that there are some of you who appreciate variety enough to read things outside your immediate areas of interest.
The group will meet every four or six weeks (depending on the length of the book) on weekdays in a restaurant or bar. The discussion will be in a round table format, followed by free conversation.
Note: as we are meeting in restaurants and not public places, the expectation is that we will order food and drink as appropriate to the venue.
Please have a normal picture of yourself for your profile in this group.
