It's Thanksgiving week and I've decided to opt for something light and silly as a nod to the festive season over the pond-Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Here's the list I consulted for inspiration if you want to look at some other Thanksgiving themed picks: https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/best-thanksgiving-movies/

This Zoom call is just to discuss the movie, please watch it during the week at your own leisure. It is available for free on BBC iPlayer, and also on Amazon Prime with a week's free trial of the Paramount + ad on. It is also available to purchase on Apple TV, the Sky Store, and Google Play movies and TV for a few quid.

And if you haven't seen it no worries, you're still very welcome! We usually end up talking about movies more broadly anyway.

Here's a synopsis of the movie:

"Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a 1987 American road trip comedy film written, produced, and directed by John Hughes and starring Steve Martin and John Candy. It tells the story of Neal Page, an uptight marketing executive, and Del Griffith, a well-meaning but annoying salesman, who become travel companions when their flight is diverted, and embark on a 3-day odyssey of misadventures trying to reach Chicago in time for Neal's Thanksgiving dinner with his family."

And what some critics have to say:

"A surprisingly powerful, and incredibly funny, little movie led by two terrific performances and John Hughes' razor sharp script."

"The movies that last, the ones we return to, don't always have lofty themes or Byzantine complexities. Sometimes they last because they are arrows straight to the heart."

"It's the pathos under the boisterous, noisy comedy that helps fuel its continuing popularity today."

I look forward to seeing you then!
