Mindfulness, Gentle Movement and Guided Meditation

This session includes a three part series of mindfulness, gentle movement and guided meditation. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. And there’s growing research showing that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodelling the physical structure of your brain. Gentle movement done with intentional enjoyment helps the body to loosen up, feelings of stress ease up, and the mind begin to to clear. Guided meditation involves focusing the mind on the present moment and being self-aware, both of which can be difficult. Following the voice and instruction of a guide provides an opportunity from intruding thoughts and develops skills for your focus, concentration and awareness to grow. “Through meditation one reaches the unbounded. Teen Mindfulness 6 Week Program

Mindfulness is a powerful way to handle the pressures of being a teen and the stress that occurs. This program connects with issues that the modern day teen faces on a daily basis and caters to cultivating and developing healthy ways to manage environments, people and situations that are difficult for teens. If your teen is experiencing any of the following, this program is for them! - Do they find themselves feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed, depressed or lonely? - Do they experience stress at school in the form of pressure to get more involved, better grades, etc? - Do they feel like life is spinning out of control and they don’t know what to do? - Do they have physical pain in the body or health concerns? Mindfulness essentially teaches teens how to respond to situations thoughtfully instead of reacting impulsively. Mindful skills and techniques are especially beneficial for teens who have increased responsibilities from school and extracurricular activities; high-pressure expectations from parents, teachers, and family members; and emotional break-ups, arguments with friends, and stressful social situations.
