Hi Bernice,

If anyone has an iphone there is a great Application called "Around Me". It uses your GPS location to look up the nearest Bank, Bar, Coffee, Gas Station, Hospital, Hotel, Movie Theater, Parking, Pharmacy, Pub, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Taxis, Theaters...
Oh, and when I last looked it was FREE!

G'day everyone

One of the difficult things of being new in town is knowing where to find things, e.g: Where is the closest doctor/dentist in my suburb? How do I buy public transport tickets (and what's this stupid validation crap?) Can someone recommend a nice restaurant to take someone on a date?

One forum I've found useful for these questions is the Melbourne Maniac community on LiveJournal.

Of course you need to be a LiveJournal user to access this forum but it's an active community and these types of questions normally get a helpful response within a few hours of posting.
