Our Almost Traffic Free Bike Rides have been incredibly popular since we started them after the covid restrictions ended.

This is a great ride with a choice of distance either by going the full length of the wonderful Monsal Trail and back which is as close to flat as you'll get or by continuing after a refreshment stop at Millers Dale Station to cross with a short road section to the High Peak Trail and use that to connect with the "Quiet Lane" from Friden which takes you eventually to Bakewell and then back to the Monsal Trail. The longer route is not entirely flat so some muscles and gears required. Shorter route 25k and longer route 40k so nothing too drastic for either.

Mountain bikes or hybrids are suitable and not pure road bikes with narrow tyres due to some soft surfaces in places. E-bikes are welcome. Refreshment and toilets available at the start point as well as at Millers Dale Station and in Bakewell which we encounter on our route but feel free to bring drinks snacks and a lunch packup if required.

Some of us may arrive earlier for the excellent Hassop Station Parkrun (no bikes allowed!) which happens at 9am every Saturday but that is entirely optional and listed for us as a separate event.

Helmets are required on all our rides for safety and insurance reasons.
