Let's meetup...

There has been interest in scheduling another WordPress Meetup (thanks, Samer!), which makes sense after a successful WordCamp Detroit event.

Unfortunately, our regular venue is not available on the only weekend I have free in December. This means you get another afternoon for watching football or going holiday shopping.

If people have topic suggestions for the January meeting please leave them in the comments or send me a message.

Happy holidays!

TJ

It was my first WP meet-up. I'm a total newbie to WP, so I found the whole experience uplifting, even the stuff that was over my head. I'll return! Good job TJ and Deborah! Thanks again!

I'll be honest... I was disappointed. I was expecting more content and the one thing I needed an answer for was glossed over. I think this group is VERY valuable and I need it. My comments should be considered constructive criticism only. I think there needs to be a clearer agenda and more discipline in how the meeting is run. I was as much at fault at others in interrupting, sidetracking, sharing irrelavent info, etc. One of the basic issues appears to be that participants range from almost no experience with WordPress to professionals at it. There is no possible way to meet everyone's needs... it's too complicated of an application to service all levels. Perhaps the meetings should be segmented to address these different strata.

But my biggest complaint remains that there was no discipline in basic meeting protocol. We could have covered the same content in 2 hours vs. 3.

Again, I really need this program, so I'm looking forward to coming again!

My experience at this meetup for WordPress was excellent! The presenter was organized and well-prepared. He had a projector set up to be to easily share the agenda, as well as show how to navigate WP. The session was open and informal which allowed attendees to add to the agenda and get their questions answered without feeling intimidated. The attendees were very cordial and helpful as well.

I felt it was organized very well, and glad I was able to attend.
