Cornwall Iron Furnace Tour and Governor Dick Hike

Details
Note: The meeting spot is a small lot off of Timber Road, not Tunnel Road. I don't know how to change the description. We have met at this lot before.
The hike begins by walking through Mt Grenta, a historic town with ties to the owners of Cornwall Furnace and then into Governor Dick Park (Clarence Shuck Memorial Park). We will hike wooded trails to the Governor Dick Observation Tower which provides a view of 5 counties, then some more trails through the forest to connect to the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail, cut off the rail trail onto some back roads to the historic Cornwall Iron Furnace which is the most intact iron ore furnace in the western hemisphere. I'm planning for the last tour of the day at 2:30 (they suggest being there at 2:15) and check out the museum. Admission is $8. From Cornwall, we will take some less traveled roads and attempt to see the historic Alden Villa. I'm not sure if it is open to the public. It is on the list of National Historic Places. Then onto the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail back to our cars in Mt Gretna. A rough estimate of distance is 12 miles.
When we get back to the cars there are a few options. Ice Cream at the Jigger Shop in Mt Gretna, there is a pizza place in Schaefferstown we can eat at or we can make our way back to my house in Reading, pick up a pizza or two (at Caruso's in Schaefferstown)and eat it on my patio. The fabled Melvin might show up!
If Reading is on your route, you can meet me at 8am in Reading and car pool to the start. dianereider@hotmail.com No cell phone. Message me on this app or send an email.
