Is anyone in the group working with Radiotelescopes? I'm an artist intrigued by them and thinking of building one but they are new to me.
Here is the video from this presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5TXk6oxs4g
Hi, I'm new and just getting back into the hobby/obsession after a long time . Been looking at new scopes recently although I have a small number I have acquired over the past 17 years. The scope I am drawn to for both visual and astrophotography is the Mak-Newt.The two are the 152mm David H. Levy Comet Hunter Telescope (no longer sold) and the Skywatcher 190mm MN. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these scopes/optical systems. Sorry will miss star party, would love to meet you all. Cheers Byron
I’m a new member, in Pawling, Dutchess County. An armchair astronomer for decades, for last 6 months have been using my old Celestron 6SE in a SkyShed POD observatory. Now however it’s time to upgrade. So far I’ve been mainly visual, have dabbled with planetary imaging, want to get into astro/nebular imaging. Budget for the new scope is ~$5K. Current preference is Celestron Edge 1100/CGX mount. So, does anyone out there have any advice to offer on that last line?Mike
My primary residence is in the Bronx at an apartment complex called Skyview on the Hudson. I have a Celestron Nextstar SE 8 with is in the Bronx currently. Since my family an I have been here in Gardiner (March 16, 2020) I have been able to observe the Venus elongation, Comet Neowise, the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction.I have been interested in Astronomy since I was a teenager growing up in Brooklyn New York.
Hi Everyone, Thank you for the great presentation by Willie Yee today. I joined the Mid Hudson Astronomers Association on December 20, 2020 and am look forward to participating in more club events. I'm a member of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York (AAA.org). I conduct public observing sessions in from of my apartment complex as well as on the Northwest corner of Johnson Avenue and West 235th Street. I was featured on CBS by Steve Overmyer Snapshot New York. You can search this (Astronomy, Bronx, Local TV, New York, Snapshot NY, Steve Overmyer) or I can share a link with you if that does not work.
Hi All, I live on Long Island and I'm tired of missing out on all the great astronomical events . It seems to be cloudy here just exactly when those things happen. I was thinking of driving up to New Paltz to see the Great Conjunction. I hoped you had an event scheduled. Can anybody offer any tips on how to plan a visit to see this ?
I'm a novice ATM, building a 10" Newtonian reflector. Are there members who would be willing to talk me through questions?
Cool new astronomy classifieds website I just built if anyone is interested https://www.saturnslist.com
