Watch ISS transit the moon

The International Space Station will cross the face of the Moon. It is a brief (about 1/2 second event), but something than many would like to see. It is best viewed with binoculars. The center line of the event will pass over Wappingers Falls, at 4:54 PM and the Buffalo Wild Wings Parking lot on Rt. 9, just North of the creek, is a perfect place. It will also be visible along a line indicated on this map:

RSVP, if you want to join us at Buffalo Wild Wings. If you will be viewing it on your own at another location, let us know in the Yahoo group, and share your observations there.

I got out of work and loaded my oldest son in the car and tried to get there in time. Missed it by 7 minutes. Bummer. Anyone snap a picture??

Sorry Peter. I was trying to get my camera set up in time, but got it set up about 30 seconds too late!

Hi all, just did a new calculation and the better place to be would actually be Home Depot or Big Lots across Rt. 9 from McDonalds in Wappingers Falls. Do we want to change where we're going?

You call it I'll drive there.

I'm at McDonald's. It's a good spot. Should I stay or go to Wings?

Weather is iffy, about 50% cloudy. How many people want to meet anyhow, and have dinner afterwards?

I would be up for it.

As long as there is at least a somewhat reasonable chance of being able to see the moon, I'll be there. It's not like we're trying to see a nebula or something! :)

I plan to be there - going to bring the Big Scope just for fun - maybe also the DX8 if I can - I'll see if I can stay for dinner as well.

Shoot, I will be working in the Bronx. I will try to observe with my students if we can view. Please do this locally again and I will be there, ISS and wings!

I don't think you'll be able to see it in the Bronx Dee. You can probably see the ISS, but it won't be in front of the moon there, and since the sun won't be quite down yet, you might need binoculars to see it at all. I'll have to write you this weekend, I have some news. Talk to you then. And I'll let you know how this goes.
