Our City Silence/Woods Walking walking meditation is a practice of open and spacious walking. We walk 1-2 miles at a normal, relaxed pace with a focus on noticing what is around us. We drink in the nature that thrives on these beautiful trails. As Alan Watts described, being present to that which surrounds us. And, rather than assigning values to things we let things communicate their own presence to us. Then we are awash in the simplicity of beauty, wonder and joy. Admittedly, we are rarely silent, as those of us walking are sharing what we're sensing -- even taking pictures of things that we notice -- things that make us stop and say "ah"!
