What we're about

Come out for fresh air with other women taking life on their own terms!

If you're a woman taking bio-identical HRT to stay at the peak of her powers around the time of menopause, it can feel like you're the only one: most women are still under the impression that "hormones will give you cancer," left by the headlines from a poorly-designed study, of poorly-chosen outdated synthetic hormones, 20 years ago. (The WHI has been called "the wrong study, of the wrong hormones, in the wrong women, at the wrong time of life.")

Well, you're not actually alone! We are everywhere-- bio-HRT is actually many professional women's secret savior. Come meet other women choosing quality of work life, health life, bone strength, joint condition, heart health, and, yes, even love life; women choosing to enjoy the time we have left on this planet in health and power, NOW.

We'll take short weekend hikes in the hills and by the bay around Palo Alto (e.g. Arastradero Preserve, Hidden Villa, the Baylands) -- generally about an hour; long enough to get our blood circulating and chat, but short enough to leave time and energy for other weekend activities! We'll pick dog-friendly places so that well-behaved dogs on leash can come.

This group was started for lesbians (defined inclusively, not exclusively) looking to meet other women, but all women who resonate with the idea are welcome. Aimed at women and genderqueer folk facing these issues (usually 45+), but younger women are welcome. Group will be on "Private" mode, since there is still some stigma around HRT (probably more than about being lesbian at this point!). So come out of the closet, women with this secret superpower -- sign up and let's see how many of us are hiding out there!

(P.S. Wondering what this is all about? Heard that keeping our hormones at a youthful level is "not natural" or dangerous? A good recent book (from Britain, where advocacy on this is much more advanced) is "Everything You Need to Know About the Menopause (but Were Too Afraid to Ask)" by author and filmmaker Kate Muir.)
