Abersoch is on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales to the south west of Snowdonia. Because it faces east, it enjoys a mild micro-climate, although there is a whole headland to explore!
The accommodation is a large self catering well equipped seaside town house with wings of different sizes depending on how many of us book. There are kitchens, lounges with TV, shower rooms, utility rooms, and bedrooms are for 2 to 6 people. Parking, electricity and gas is provided. You just need to bring your own bed linen and bathroom items (i.e. pillows and duvets are provided, but bring towels, sheets, pillow case, duvet cover or sleeping bag).
The cost to the weekend will be £40 for 3 nights/4 days, based on B&B plus snacks and basic provisions. This deal surely cannot surely be beaten! Your petrol and booze will be your only significant unavoidable outlay, and car sharing should be possible for those willing to meet a driver at their start point (normally leaving Birmingham 9am on the day of departure).
Please take Friday/Monday off work to make the most of the weekend.
Daytime Activities: Beaches, Walks, Maze, Games/Sports, DayTrips, Swimming, etc. Evening Activities: Pubs, Disco, BBQ, House Party, Nightclub, Meals.
Rooms dictate suitability for roughly equal numbers of men and women. Theoretical maximum of about 40 places. Rules: No smoking, pay for breakages, be considerate to everyone else.
Please note that the room layout will be on the noticeboard in reception from around 1-pm of the Friday of arrival
Please feel free to contact me, or put queries or suggestions on the wall, or any ideas which will help make this a successful group outing
Walks & Trips
There are plenty of walks and trips available around Abersoch, and we change the format each year we go. There will be a sightseeing tour of the headland visiting the lovely beaches, that's for sure.
DVD & CD Players are provided. We can gain access mid-late Friday morning to drop off perishable food, though the rooms won't be available until mid-late afternoon. Parking is available both at the front and at the back, we're a corner house and you have to drive right around the property for the rear parking.
Once places at our accommodation are exhausted, guest may wish to book own accommodation and join us. We might suggest the Tanrallt Centre via http://www.abersoch-tanrallt.co.uk .....since Guest Houses etc are usually rather pricey. ....
Another hostel option is http://www.independenthostelguide.co.uk/selected-accommodation.php?hostel=131&s=215 ..... There is also a camping option overlooking Porth Ceiriad.
NOTE THERE ARE 40+ PLACES IN THE GROUP ACCOMMODATION, FOR THE FIRST 40 ELIGIBLE MEMBERS TO PAY, AS SIGNIFIED BY THE LIST BELOW RATHER THAN WHO HAS RSVP'D. WE WILL NOT LIMIT THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PLACES ON THE EVENT, SINCE OTHERS MAY THEN CHOOSE CAMPING OR ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION ONCE OUR ACCOMMODATION IS FULL.
BUT THE PLACES IN THE GROUP ACCOMMODATION ARE TO BE RELEASED IN PHASES TO PREVENT THEM ALL BEING GRABBED EARLY, CREATING A FALSE MARKETPLACE.
Anyone camping might like to choose from this list of splendid sites.
In addition to the above, our members have stayed at these sites in previous years:
When choosing a campsite, you may wish to refer to this map to check distance from Abersoch pubs and beaches. There are 9 camping site symbols within a mile of Abersoch centre, mainly to the south. If you click on the orange arrow to place it above a particular campsite symbol, and then click on "click here to convert coordinates" below the map it will reveal postcode etc to help you then google for the campsite name and contact number.
Be Cool, Be There!
