South Birmingham Greenway Walk
This is an urban walk of around 9 miles which is primarily off-road and level. So why not blow away some winter cobwebs!!
We have already successfully completed a North Birmingham Greenway walk and an East Birmingham Greenway Walk, so this is the third episode in our series.
We will meet at 10:15 sharp outside Bournville Train Station.
The 9:18 train service from Sutton Coldfield via Birmingham New Street arrives at Bournville Station at 10:10, and we will leave immediately.
Our route passes the Cadbury's Factories, and follows the path of Wood Brook to Lodge Hill Crematorium Grounds, from where it heads west to Senneleys Park, and then onto Woodgate Valley Country Park before heading east along the course of Bourn Brook for several miles past Harborne Golf Club towards the QE Hospital, and returning to Bournville via the Worcester canal towpath, via Selly Oak viaduct.
Before leaving, there will be Sunday Roast Lunch at the British Oak Public House, where fine ales are served. This is only 5 minutes walk from Bournville Station.
Walkers are asked to maintain the pace determined by the walk leader, and to keep other walkers in sight at all times. Dogs are usually welcome on walks, and will not be turned away today, however they must remain with their owners and there are likely to be long sections where they must be kept on a short lead.
Walkers are encouraged to travel by train (or bus) and to stop for drinks or food afterwards, since this is a social occasion, not a public service. Accordingly, anyone sloping off immediately after the walk will be requested to donate an appropriate amount to charity, either to MacMillan Cancer Support or to The Rabbit Welfare Association Fund (RWAF). However for anyone who is unable to avoid arriving by car, there is understood to be a car park near Bournville Station in Mary Vale Road.

As with any outdoor activity, walking carries a certain level of risk. Whilst we aim to avoid any unnecessary risks, participants must take all reasonable precautions themselves to avoid injury and other difficulties, must keep within easy reach of the the group as a whole, and are ultimately responsible for their own safety.
The best days are here :-)
